10 September 2021 Friday 17:57

The signing ceremony of Fenerbahçe Women's Football Team was held at Ülker Stadium Fenerbahçe Şükrü Saracoğlu Sports Complex.

Fenerbahçe Women's Football Team Manager Jessica Lynne Çarmıklı and Fenerbahçe’s Women Team Coach Nihan Su signed at the ceremony in which Fenerbahçe Sports Club Board Member M. Kemal Danabas was present. Fethi Pekin and Can Gebetaş, Members of the Board of Directors, were also present at the signing ceremony.

Board Member M. Kemal Danabaş said:

“Today, as Fenerbahçe, we are adding a new one to 9 sports branches we have. We start a new journey with Fenerbahçe Women's Football Team. The foundations of the women's football team are not really new to us. In 2019, we launched the "Girls Football School" at our Fenerbahçe Sports Schools on the International Day of the Girl Child.

We think that women's football, which is developing with our Fenerbahçe Women's Football team, will gain a great momentum in our country. UEFA also invests for the development and growth of women’s football.

Together with our Fenerbahçe football team, the record holder with its 28 Turkish championships, we believe that Fenerbahçe women's football team is going to get big success. We have no doubt of that."

Fenerbahçe Women's Football Team Manager Jessica Lynne Çarmıklı said:

“I believe that there is a great potential for women's football in this country. This is a country with great potential, not only across the country, but also across Europe. Football has always been very close to my heart because I have had so many opportunities thanks to football. I believe that women in Turkey also have the right to have this opportunity.”

Fenerbahçe’s Women Football Team's Coach Nihan Su said:

"The opening of a women's football branch by Fenerbahçe, Turkey's biggest sports club and also the biggest non-governmental organization, is an admirable and huge step. A giant like Fenerbahçe, who has been working on gender equality and protecting women and girls in Turkey, specifically for last three years, steps into women's football. This crowns the ongoing developments in this field in recent years.

I also feel the indescribable pride and honor of being the coach of Fenerbahçe Women's Football Team. For this, I would like to thank all our Fenerbahçe family, especially our President Ali Koç."
