Şükrü Saracoğlu

Mehmet Şükrü Saracoğlu was a politician and the fifth Prime Minister of Turkey. He was born in 1887 in Ödemiş, Turkey. Saraçoğlu began his career as a teacher before graduating from the Geneva Faculty of Political Sciences. Saraçoğlu, who became the Minister of Education in 1924, achieved successes in many fields and was a highly regarded statesman in Turkey. Saraçoğlu was also a keen Fenerbahçe supporter and was the president of the club from 1934 to 1950, making him the longest serving Fenerbahçe president. In 1953, three years after retiring from politics, he sadly passed away in Istanbul on the 27 December.
